Keep the following in mind when choosing your sauna site:
• If you have a window, choose a placement where your view can stay private.
• Aesthetics: choose a placement that complements your home and yard, keeping sightlines to your porch or other accents open so the sauna enhances your outdoor space rather than feeling like clutter.
• Accessibility: it's nice to have your sauna close to a back door or walkout entry for easy everyday use.
• Electrical distance: the further your electric has to run, the higher your installation cost — plan your site with this in mind.
• Delivery access: check the Shed Mule Delivery section below so your site allows for easy delivery.
Your pad should be a little larger than the sauna size you ordered — for example, a 6'x8' sauna needs a pad prepped for 7'x9'.
To prep your pad:
• Remove all topsoil and organic matter.
• Fill with 6" of class V gravel or equivalent.
• Pack well and level.
Already have a space on a patio? That works great too!
The 12V lighting ties into the stove controller. Electrical requirements:
• 6KW stove/heater: 220V 30 amp circuit (neutral required for lighting)
• 9KW stove/heater: 220V 40 amp circuit (neutral required for lighting)
Pro tip for winter deliveries: trench your power out ahead of time and have it stubbed up and ready for your sauna.
We use a shed mule for deliveries that are accessible by our machine. We'll need a clear path from our truck and trailer to your sauna pad location that allows the width (+4") of your sauna to pass through, with the following height clearances:
• Shed style roof: 8'6"–9'6" height clearance
• Gable style roof: 10'–11' height clearance
• No steep hills along the path
If we determine a shed mule delivery isn't possible, we'll coordinate a crane delivery instead.
